Kendall County Republican Central Committee
Policy Position Regarding
Kendall County Traffic Congestion
We all know that traffic congestion in Kendall County has become a significant issue in 2009.
If you ask local drivers, including local truck drivers, if they see the priority being either improving Route 47 or construction of the Prairie Parkway, the overwhelming majority answer Route 47. The same answer is generally given for Routes 71, 30, and 34.
If we can’t maintain the roads we already use, why are we even considering building more? We don’t have any intention of closing any of the current roads. So, why would we not take care of what we have first, and then add onto our road system?
Therefore, the following statement has been approved by an overwhelming majority of the members of the Kendall County Republican Central Committee present at their February 16th meeting.
Understanding that the current transportation infrastructure in Kendall County as it relates to state and federal highways is under great stress at this time, there is acute and significant need to upgrade and improve Illinois Routes 47 and 71 along with U.S. Routes 30 and 34. It is the opinion of the members of the Kendall County Republican Central Committee that:
No further funding by any government body should be allocated to the Prairie Parkway or any other new project until the needed improvements to our already existing roadways have been completed.
